Meet the Book Blogger!

I’ve seen a few people post their name in books lately and it got me curious about what I could dig out of my shelves. It seemed a good time to do a little meet the book blogger post to go with it.

Firstly, I’m:

Dumplin’ – Julie Murphy
Eormous Room, The – E.E. Cummings
Bride Test, The – Helen Hoang
One of Us is Lying – Karen M. McManus
Rumor, The – Lesley Kara
After You – Jojo Moyes
Hello, Goodbye, & Everything In Between – Jennifer E. Smith

I was born and raised in Southern California. In fact I’ve never lived more than 2 hours from where I was born. I have been a big reader all my life. As a kid I had wanted to be a writer. That desire faded away over time, but the love of reading never did. I was an English major in college and loved the exposure to books I wouldn’t have necessarily found on my own. I missed that after I graduated.

I have been following the bookish places online for quite a while, seeking out podcasts and participating in a few reading challenge groups on Goodreads, but I’m shy and creating material of my own seemed too big a step. I finally decided to go for it with my bookstagram account a few months back and then I launched this blog in June. I’ve been loving learning about new books and talking to people who share my love of reading!

I’m open to trying pretty much every genre, but I’ve recently rediscovered my love for thrillers after going a few years without reading too many. I really enjoy some dark horror reads (I grew up on a lot of Stephen King and the like) and I pick up a lot of general literary fiction as well. Reading challenges have really pushed me out of my comfort zone and I’ve found that I actually do like non-fiction and historical fiction which I might have been more prone to saying no to in years past!

Outside of reading, I spend a lot of time with my little furry girl Kylee. She pops up in my book pics from time to time (she doesn’t understand that while she’s cute, sometimes I actually mean to take a picture of something other than her). I tried to spell out her name in books, but it seems I’m lacking in “Y” titles. 🙂

Apart from reading and endless games of fetch, I enjoy cooking and making jewelry as well (often accompanied by an audiobook).

I am really enjoying being a part of the book blogging community and look forward to continuing!
