A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens

Rating: 5 / 5

I don’t think there are many among us who don’t know the story of A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens in some form or another. It is a story that has been retold time and again! Still, I don’t think I had ever actually read it! Getting this edition of Charles Dickens stories in my Coffee and a Classic box in November made it the perfect time to pick it up!

A CHRISTMAS CAROL of course depicts Ebenezer Scrooge who can barely bother to pause and acknowledge Christmas as he focuses on his work and his money with barely a bah-humbug to those around him. The visitations of first his late business partner and the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future arrive to teach him a lesson and change his outlook on life.

As I said this is a well known story and this felt like revisiting an old friend. What I did expect was a strong moral message from Dickens which of course he did deliver. What I didn’t necessarily expect was the humor that comes through in this original tale.

Reading A CHRISTMAS CAROL was probably my favorite Christmas reading for December, definitely a story worth the revisit! I haven’t yet read all the stories in this collection, but I do plan to pick them all up eventually!
