Monday Morning Reading Check In

Hello book friends, I hope you are having a wonderful Monday so far! Happy Christmas Eve Eve! M

Christmas is in full swing for me. I had dinner and a gift exchange with the extended family last night since we’ll be in different places on Christmas Day. I always enjoy getting to see my cousin’s kids having fun with their presents. Just two more days to the actual day of and I’m feeling somewhat ready. I think. Maybe.

Though the weekend was a bit busier than most, I did get some reading time in. I started in on ALL THE WAYS WE SAID GOODBYE by Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig and Karen White which I was very lucky to win in a Goodreads giveaway from the wonderful folks at William Morrow! This one follows the lives of three different women, beginning with Babs in 1964, Aurélie in 1914 and Daisy in 1942. They are all linked in some way to the Ritz hotel in France. It begins with a bit of mystery and intrigue and I’m enjoying it so far! This one will be published on January 14, 2020 so keep your eyes out!⅕

I also started THE LOOK-ALIKE by Erica Spindler from St. Martin’s Press. Ten years ago while in college Sienna discovered the body of a classmate but the mystery was never solved. Sienna is now back in town which is bringing back up the cold case. This one delves into issues of mental health and of course the crime that happened and it is by an author I have enjoyed before. This has been a highly anticipated read for me and I’m racing through this one and enjoying it so far! (There is a very real chance I’ll have finished this one by the time this post goes up!) This one comes out on 1/28/2020.

I am also making my way through the advance listener copy audio book of SAINT X by Alexis Schaitkin from Libro.FM and Celadon Books. This book begins with a murder on the Caribbean island of Saint X. The book focuses mainly on the murdered girl’s younger sister years later when she again encounters a man accused of having killed her sister. I am not quite sure where the narrative is going, but I look forward to finishing this one. This book publishes 2/18/2020.

In addition to these new titles, I’m also still reading A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN by Betty Smith for the #ClassicsBuddyRead as mentioned in last week’s post. I’m not going to go into detail on this but I am really enjoying it and I will look forward to our final chat next weekend.

Aside from hopefully wrapping up these books this week, I don’t have any particular reading plans. I decided to take the week off work so I am hoping to have a few lazy mornings reading with my coffee and snuggling with my Kylee. Hopefully that will help me to wrap up my current reads and maybe even squeeze an extra book or three in before the end of the year!

That is it for me at the moment. What are you currently reading?
