My January TBR

Happy New Year, book friends!! I hope your 2020 is off to an amazing start!

January marks my first use of my new Jar of TBR for my reading challenge prompts and I’ve had fun starting to pull prompts in December and ask for recommendations over on bookstagram. I’ll be starting to pull for February soon!

My January TBR is built around ARCs and buddy reads, plus of course what the Jar of TBR gave me. I have a few library holds still in transit that didn’t make the picture, but that’s probably a good thing because this stack already looks pretty intimidating to me!

A GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD by Therese Ann Fowler – pub date 2/4/2020

AFTER THE FLOOD by Kassandra Montag #bookishbuddyread

ANNA KARENINA by Leo Tolstoy – #classicsbuddyread, #2020classics

HUM IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE WORDS by Bianca Marais – #notyomamasbookclub

IN THE DREAM HOUSE by Carmen Maria Machado

LEVIATHAN WAKES by James S. A. Corey – #deepdarkreads

THE CHILL by Scott Carson – pub date 2/11/2020

THE DUTCH HOUSE by Ann Patchett – #bbrthedutchhouse

THE KINGDOM OF BACK by Marie Lu – pub date 3/3/2020

THE OTHER PEOPLE by C.J. Tudor – pub date 1/28/2020

THE SWALLOWS by Lisa Lutz – #bbrtheswallows

The Jar of TBR Picks…

*ACROSS THE UNIVERSE by Beth Revis – A book related to Maximillain Hell, astronomer

*STILL ALICE by Lisa Genova – A book from your TBR you don’t recall adding

*THE GIRL HE USED TO KNOW by Tracey Garvis Graves – A book with a neurodiverse character

*THE OTHER PEOPLE by C.J. Tudor – A book with a mode of transportation on the cover

*TWISTED TWENTY-SIX by Janet Evanovich – A book with 20 or “twenty” in the title

*THE KINGDOM OF BACK by Marie Lu – A book published in 2020

*A book with a great first line – I could use ANNA KARENINA as it has a famous first line or I could go with something else – time will tell!

*A book with at least a 4-star rating on Goodreads – I have a few on my list that would work for this or I may wind up mood reading something great during the month

*SHADOW MAN by Alan Drew – The first book you touch on a shelf with your eyes closed – it only took three attempts to actually hit a book rather than the wall or a candle!

*ON BEAUTY by Zadie Smith – Winner of the Women’s Price for Fiction

*THE GIRL IN THE TOWER by Katherine Arden – A book inspired by folklore

*WILDER GIRLS by Rory Power – A Book About the Environment – I got several great recommendations for this one that got added to my TBR so this may be a last minute mood read swap out

What are you looking forward to in January? See any on my list that you’ve read or want to? I’d love to hear!
