Readathon, TBR

My #MakeYourMythTaker TBR

To declare myself a pirate, I will be taking my ship THE NIGHT SWIM to THE RAVEN TOWER located on THE FARTHEST SHORE to plunder the riches of A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES!

When I saw the announcement video for #MakeYourMythTaker, it looked like a lot of fun. Though I read all over the genre spectrum, I’ve been finding myself leaning into fantasy quite a bit more lately. There were lots of great options for this readathon, but I’ve decided to follow the path to becoming a pirate. I have a pup who thinks she’s part parrot and occasionally likes to sit on my shoulder, so it seemed fitting! Plus the pirate-ey prompts fit well with some of the books I wanted to get to very soon!

With this readathon, you do need to declare your TBR and follow the path in order throughout the month of June, so here’s mine. Though this is primarily a fantasy themed readathon, sticking to a single genre isn’t required so I did fit in one non-fantasy ARC in my quest toward pirate greatness.

Featuring water: THE NIGHT SWIM by Megan Goldin (out 8/4/2020 from St. Martin’s Press, gifted advanced copy) – there is water on the cover, swimming in the title and a swimmer in the plot, plus it is one of the ARCs I really want to get to soon so I added this to the TBR even though it is outside of the fantasy genre.

Book with a dark cover: THE RAVEN TOWER by Ann Leckie – this is the May/June pick for the new #MagicMayhemReads buddy read. The cover is sufficiently dark mysterious and the discussion happens in mid June so I need to get to reading!

Featuring a journey: THE FARTHEST SHORE by Ursula K. Le Guin – this is the June book for #LeGuinAlong and the synopsis on Goodreads promises a “daring, treacherous journey” which seems perfectly pirate-ish.

Bargain book: A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES by Sarah J. Maas – I found this one on sale for less than half price, so I’d count that as a good bargain, plus I’ve been wanting to give this series a try for a while and now seemed a good time! I’ve got a buddy read chat for this partway through the month so hopefully I will be a full fledged pirate in time!

I’m looking forward to seeing what others are reading and getting some additional book recommendations! Are you participating? What’s your chosen path?
