I received a complimentary egalley thanks to Jane Harper, Flatiron Books and Netgalley. I also received the advance listener copy thanks to Macmillan Audio and LibroFM!
Happy first day of winter, book friends! We can’t claim much of a winter-ey winter here in Southern California (we actually had a bit of a heat wave this weekend), but I did break out my snowman mug for the occasion! Another Monday but at least this is one that kicks off a shorter week. Though I’m working through Christmas Eve, a lot of folks are taking time off later in the week so I’m hoping it will be a productive and quiet week overall! (Though it isn’t even 11a and already this day has been a day!)
I’m still recovering from fun allergies, so I got a lot of good reading in over the weekend without a ton of energy to do much else. Today I’m kicking off the reading week with THE SURVIVORS by Jane Harper over a much needed coffee break! I have both the Netgalley and ALC versions of this one, so will be bouncing back and forth between formats.
I honestly don’t know much about this book apart from the author. I have been a huge fan of Jane Harper since I first read THE LOST MAN last year and followed it up with her other two backlist titles. When I saw that she had a new title coming, I requested it without even reading the synopsis! Her writing is so atmospheric and so well crafted! This book focuses on Kieran, a man haunted by his past. The setting is a small coastal town where Kieran’s parents still live and where the town and the family struggles. I can’t wait to get sucked into this new setting to see how Jane Harper brings it to life!
In addition to this one, I am still working on THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE by Samantha Shannon. I’m now at the halfway mark and really enjoying it. I enjoyed the buddy read discussion yesterday on the first half. I’m holding off on reading the second half until January both because I want it fresh in mind for our final chat and also because I’m cheating a bit on the Popsugar Reading Challenge prompt for a DNF book on your TBR because it will not be finished and will still be on my TBR.
What are you kicking off your week reading? I’d love to hear!
