Book Review

ALL THE STARS AND TEETH and ALL THE TIDES OF FATE by Adalyn Grace

Rating: 3.5 / 5

I received this edition of ALL THE STARS AND TEETH by Adalyn Grace in an Owlcrate box and I received the sequel ALL THE TIDES OF FATE on audio from Macmillan Audio.

ALL THE STARS AND TEETH is set in a world where magic can be dangerous. Amora is the heir to the throne, in raining to become the High Animancer practicing to use a form of magic to master souls, a magical ability full of danger that only a few can use. When she is called upon to prove her worth, her magic gets out of control and she must run away from her home and her people.

Amora signs on with Bastian, a pirate who may be able to help her prove her worth and her ability to rule. Visiting other islands where people practice other magics opens Amora’s eyes. When she learns of a movement which says that people can safely use more than one form of magic, she begins to wonder if everything she has been taught to believe is wrong.

I really enjoyed this adventure story. It was a fun mix of magic, mermaids, politics, and a host of interesting characters. It is set up much like a quest story initially with more secrets uncovered along the way as Amora attempts to master her own abilities.

This was a quick read and I was happy to be able to continue on with the second book in the duology. The pair of books did a good job of fleshing out the story and bringing things together to a satisfying close.

I would recommend these books to those who enjoy a good fantasy adventure!
