Book Review

I received a complimentary audiobook copy of THE DATING DARE by Jayci Lee for an honest review. Thank you to Macmillan Audio, Libro FM, and the author for the chance to read and review!

Rating: 3.5 / 5

THE DATING DARE follows Tara Park, a young woman who isn’t looking for a serious relationship. When Tara finds herself in a game of Truth or Dare which leads to a dare to spend four dates with her best friend’s new brother-in-law Seth Kim, she doesn’t entirely mind. Seth is leaving the country in a few weeks, so while he is tempting there isn’t any danger of moving toward something serious. But of course, nothing goes entirely to plan.

This book is the second in the author’s A Sweet Mess series, but it works perfectly fine as a stand alone book though there are characters who obviously carry over from book one. I haven’t read the first novel and the author did a good job of making sure I wasn’t missing any vital information. I can definitely see the continuation of the author’s focus on delicious sounding sweet treats that I remember people talking about with book one!

The relationship between Tara and Seth ramped up quickly and while I wouldn’t call it insta love, it was pretty close. For my personal taste, I think I would have preferred a bit more of a slow build, but overall this was a fun read with characters I enjoyed. I loved seeing glimpses of Tara’s life at the brewery, Seth’s photography and of course all the tasty treats described!

THE DATING DARE is out on August 3!
