SUCH SHARP TEETH follows Rory, a young woman moving back to her hometown, not entirely because it is what she wants. Rory’s sister is pregnant and in need of some extra support, so she is stepping up. After a night out Rory hits something with her car – a large animal she thinks. She gets out to investigate and is attacked and that is where things start to get weird.
Rory is craving meat, silver hurts, and her temper is a bit out of control. While she’s trying to figure out what is going on with her, she’s also trying to figure out what is going on with her sister’s marriage, her own relationship status, and what she needs to do to get her life under control.
After reading and really enjoying CACKLE last year, I was really excited to pick this one up. Holding off to read it until October was tough! I am pleased to say that I really enjoyed this one too (and not only because it was the perfect book to pair with Werewolf Kylee). This mixes some dark humor, romance, and horror. It has some creepy moments, but overall I wouldn’t say this would be too much for the horror adverse. It definitely has some gory scenes and body horror.
I really enjoy Rachel Harrison’s writing and humor and this is a perfect read for this time of year! This book also looks at a lot of themes of belonging, difference, and acceptance. I thought that the mental health and reactions to trauma were well done. The relationships that Rory develops with those around her are well portrayed too.
SUCH SHARP TEETH is out today!
