Happy Monday, friends! I had a nice long 5 day weekend and boy was it tough getting back into a routine this morning. First I couldn’t find my keys (you’d think I didn’t leave the house at all, but really I did!) and then I left home without my coffee and had to go back. Because there really wasn’t a way I could survive this Monday without caffeine.
The weekend itself was good! I got to go to a candle making session with my BFF, some family time on Thanksgiving day, and had a couple great meals out and about. I stuck to doing my Black Friday and surrounding sale days shopping from the couch, but I definitely gave my cards a workout! Like me, they need to recover from last week!
I got some good reading time in this weekend too and made a good dent on what is left of my TBR for the month. There will of course be books I haven’t been able to get to that I would have loved to read for some of my November goals, but I have set up my reading advent calendar full of reading prompts for December so will be able to hopefully get to some of those next month!
Currently I am in the middle of WHITE HORSE by Erika T. Wurth which is our current #SaturdayBookstaClub buddy read and I am enjoying it. This book is a bit of a genre blend following Kari James. When her cousin finds an old bracelet, it calls up the ghost of Kari’s mother and also some sort of monster which seems more menacing. Kari has not put a lot of thought into what happened to the mother who abandoned her years ago, but with this haunting it raises all sorts of questions about the past and about the family she doesn’t really know. I am very intrigued to see where the second half of this one takes the story. I’ve had a few quibbles with it as the timeline for everything has been a bit unclear at times, but I am enjoying the mix of mystery with horror elements!
Apart from this one, I am mostly just trying to get ahead on a few of my planned ARC reads for December so I can really mood read my way through the month as the advent calendar prompts fall apart from my buddy read plans!
For those celebrating, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope that everyone’s week is off to a fantastic start!
What are you #CurrentlyReading? I would love to hear!
