It has been an emotional and educational week for everyone. I have really appreciated seeing the outpouring of resources, book recommendations and shows of support for those speaking up for much needed change. It is hard to know what to say and how to say it, but I am committed to reading, listening and learning. I will make mistakes and I will learn from them.
Since I’ve found the book recommendations others have shared a benefit to me, I wanted to share some of the books written by fantastic Black authors from my own shelves. Most of these are books I’ve read and loved along with a few that I have on my TBR. I don’t often hold on to books after I’ve read them and I do make a lot of trips to the local library when times are normal, so a few additional authors who spring to mind are N. K. Jemisin (I loved her Broken Earth trilogy), Michelle Obama (BECOMING was amazing, especially on audio!) and Tomi Adeyemi (CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE is wonderful).

I love to read from a variety of diverse perspectives and I commit to doing even better at that going forward. I would absolutely love to hear your recommendations as well!
I absolutely love Dorothy Koomson. And I’ve heard loads of good things about the fifth season trilogy – I must hurry up and get to it!
