Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the gifted copy of MAIDEN VOYAGES: MAGNIFICENT OCEAN LINERS AND THE WOMEN WHO TRAVELED AND WORKED ON THEM by Siân Evans!
Happy Monday! I wound up being pretty under the weather last week, so I’m happy to be coming out the other side of it, though not so happy to be back at work. In good news though, I did get a lot of reading in with my low energy, couch slug mentality for the weekend. In other good news, my BFF hits town this week so I have something later this week to look forward to and help motivate me to keep going!
In current reading, I’m bouncing around a few different things, but I had to show off my #NonfictionBookParty mug from @theocbookgirl alongside my current #NonfictionNovember read, MAIDEN VOYAGES. This book takes a look at the history of women at sea from the days when women were a rarity and only allowed under supervision to the present day. The book is full of anecdotes and interesting women who took to the seas for various reasons. It looks at how ships show off the greater picture of women’s rights and their place in larger society. I’ve picked this one up on audio and I’m hoping to finish it today while catching up at work!
In other reading, I’ve started my journey through the #SPFBO9 finalists with DAUGHTER OF THE BEAST by E.C. Greaves. Saving my thoughts for an official review, but interested to see where this is going. I’ve also started THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EIGHT by Nalini Singh on my drive to work this morning (gifted copy from PRH Audio) and I’m very intrigued. This mystery comes out next Tuesday from Berkley!
What are you starting off your week reading? I’d love to hear!
I hope you feel better this week! I read Warbreaker over the weekend but my husband just texted me and let me know that my copy of Iron Flame was delivered. So I will probably dive into that tonight because I have serious fomo.
