Book Review

HAZELTHORN by CG Drews

I received a gifted audiobook copy of HAZELTHORN by CG Drews from Recorded Books and Netgalley!

Rating: 4.5 / 5

HAZELTHORN follows a young man named Evander. Evander was taken in as a ward of a reclusive billionaire. He’s been pretty much locked away for much of his life after his ward’s grandson tried to kill him once upon a time and left him medically compromised. He’s lived by three rules, not to leave the property, not to go into the garden, and not to be alone with Laurie, the grandson. When his ward unexpectedly dies, Evander is sure he’s been murdered. This gives him his first taste of freedom in life and the opportunity to explore his relationship with Laurie as they seek answers.

I really enjoyed this author’s previous book, so I was excited with a new book was coming out. It was an immediate add to box for my BOTM order. I am happy to report that I enjoyed this book even more than the previous one!

I am a big fan of atmospheric settings in books and the isolated estate and the garden in particular absolutely delivered in this regard. There were a lot of twists and turns to the story that I didn’t see coming which I really loved as well!
