PERSEPHONE’S CURSE follows four sisters who have always been told by their aunt that they were descended from Persephone. They are never sure how much to believe their aunt, but they do seem to have some things that are pretty unique around them. Chief among these things is that there is a ghost in the house who only the four sisters can see.

When one of the sisters falls in love with Henry, it raises a lot of questions for them. Can their connection to the Goddess of the Dead really let a living girl have a relationship with someone dead? When more problems arise seemingly tied to the girls’ and their power, they are the only ones who can possibly rectify things to save not only Henry but everyone else in the world as well.

I didn’t really know what to expect from this book going into it and I was very happily surprised when I was very quickly hooked by the story. The POV is that of Winnie, one of the four sisters and I think the author did well at letting us follow her story while also getting to know her sisters very well. The characters are well fleshed out and we get to know more about the family and their history over the course of the book.

I think this wound up being a very interesting blend of genres with a bit of mythology, a bit of romance for a couple of the sisters, a little mystery, and a very contemporary setting. This made for a really unique storyline and one that definitely pulled on the heartstrings along the way!
